Blazers are a classic and versatile wardrobe staple that can be worn year-round, especially in Spring. They can be styled in many different ways, from dressy to casual, depending on the occasion and personal preference.

As indicated by the title of this post, the selected theme for this edition of the Magnificent 8 Collaboration is blazers for Spring. Traditionally, blazers are a more formal and structured type of jacket often worn as part of a business or smart-casual attire, while other jacket styles are deemed to be more casual and tend towards having different design elements. Two or three button closures, notch lapels, and flap pockets are the typical defining details of blazers as is a more fitted silhouette.

However, there has been a trend towards more relaxed and oversized blazers in recent years. They are frequently seen paired with jeans or even shorts for those desiring a more casual look. Pastel, brightly colored, and/or boldly patterned blazers are also popular for Spring, as they can add a pop of interest to an otherwise neutral outfit.

You may have noticed that I’ve been showcasing blazers a bit in the last month or so. First, there was the relaxed-fit one with a southwestern pattern that I’d included in my Mad As A March Hare style remix collection and then my The Black Blazer: 3 Spring Outfits post I shared at the end of March.

The blazer featured in today’s look is a thrift store find like the other two blazers had been and it came into my possession about two weeks ago. The Husband and I were traveling back after a visit with our daughter who lives in Washington and we’d decided to include a stopover in Santa Cruz. Neither of us had ever been and we gave ourselves a full day and evening to enjoy some of the city’s highlights. Before heading out on the last leg of our trip home, we stopped at a nearby Goodwill for a browse after breakfast. We’d hit a few other thrift stores during the trip as I’d hoped to find a pretty Spring blazer and finally, it happened.

My white jeans are from this month’s Keep Calm And April On style remix collection and seemed like the perfect choice for pairing with this blazer to create a casual look. Since I really like pattern mixing, I opted for the window-pane print shirt I’d previously worn in Size Denial And A New ‘Fit’ness Plan because I liked how it picked up on the blue in the floral print of my blazer. This shirt was also a thrift store find. My mustard-hued mules are another “new for Spring” impulse purchase that I got for a really great bargain.

Time to move on to the Magnificent 8 Collaboration. Working in tandem are 8 stylish women, each in a different age bracket ranging from early 20s to early 80s, with the intention of showing that fabulous style has no age restrictions. So wear what you want, when you want, add a smile, and strut your style with confidence. And be sure to check out the other 7 amazing gals! These posts are shared on a quarterly basis … be on the lookout at the end of July for the next post in this series.

The Magnificent 8 Collaboration began in the Summer of 2018 as a quarterly venture and this is its 20th installment. 1. Girl!! I just love how you mixed prints with the blazer and top. And I couldn’t agree more that blazers are so versatile and timeless.

  2. That has to be the very best blazer I have ever seen! I love that it’s floral. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a floral blazer since they seem so much more formal. And, I really like it with the windowpane check top! You and your husband have such good road trips. We need to slow down and not worry about getting from Point A to Point B in such a hurry!

  3. I love this colorful look, Rena! What a wonderful blazer and such a great thrifty find! The pattern mix is so fun, too, and those impulse shoes are magnificent! I might have impulse purchased them, too! I don’t need any more blazers but now I am hankering to go thrift shopping!
