Have you ever bought a pair of pants with a front ankle slit that allows your boots to play peekaboo? And then did you find yourself wearing said pants on repeat for four days in a row? Not that I did that … just asking for a friend.

Ok, ok … it was me. But honestly, they’re so comfy and who couldn’t use another pair of black pants. This is not a sponsored post; I bought these beauties with my own money. And when I find something fabulous, I’m going to wear it and share it.

If I recall correctly, I’d come across an online article recently that featured several WWW items newly available at ๐ŸŽฏ. At breakneck speed, I was searching the website to see if they were available at a store near me. The closest one to have them in stock was about 25 miles from my home but I’d been planning to take a drive to that area anyway so I placed an order for pick-up. Easy peasy.

They fit like a dream (TTS as well). Online, they’re described as “lounge pants with a little attitude”. Kind of like a cross between leggings and yoga pants but a tad dressier. Lately, I’ve been moving away from ankle pants and favoring longer lengths but I’m not so keen that my cute shoes don’t get as much exposure. Problem solved with the front slit.

One day, I wore them with my black fashion sneakers and my gray chunky sweater. The next day, I’d paired them up with my snakeskin booties, white top, and denim vest. However, I never got around to taking photos those days. On the day I wore this look, The Husband and I were headed to a dinner party with friends to celebrate our host’s birthday. Fortunately, we had enough time before heading to their house to immortalize my ensemble.

Oh, and I guess that I should say something about the boots. They were kind of a birthday present to myself back in October but I hadn’t gotten around to wearing them yet (or sharing them). I think I was just waiting for the right inspiration.

Let’s Wrap This Up

Now, onto the Fine-Whatever link-up. My featured blogger from last week’s link-up post is Sally, who shares her creative insights on her blog Within A World Of My Own. Sally’s did a marvelous spin with the latest Style Imitating Art challenge which was a portrait that Rembrandt had painted of his wife.

Have I made my case for trying a front slit that’ll play peekaboo with your footwear? I’m interested in hearing about where your focus is these days, style-wise. Are you staying only with what’s current or do you revisit the favorites that have worked in the past? What details are staples in your wardrobe? And as we are now in month 2 of 2022, how have your fashion choices changed since this time last year?

Stay well and letโ€™s keep in touch! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, pin โ€ฆ all options are available. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Mireille, I expect that these pants are going to be very popular.

  1. I’m seeing the slit-ankle pants repeatedly in fashion blog posts. Your black pair looks good on you, especially showing the snakeskin booties. I think the front slit in the pants helps to create the look of long legs and slender shape. Thank you for hosting the link-up.

Carol, I’d seen them too and in stores but they’re usually too long or too fussy or too low in quality for me. The length of these is spot on for me and they feel great.

  2. I have seen them on several bloggers and do love the look with the slit detail. Mango has some pants with these details. I have one pair of Wit and Wisdom jeans with this detail. Great look on you with those fancy boots!

    • Rena

You’re welcome, Sally. And I’m glad that you like this look.

  3. I’m always revisiting old favourites (like ALL the time lol). I LOVE your trousers, and I also love how the website described them as being lounge pants with attitude! I think that’s brilliant. Your styling, as usual, is spot on. Those boots are FAB!

Suzy, old favorites are wonderful to have as part of your “go-to” collection for when you just want to be comfortable.

    • Rena

Heather, I couldn’t agree with you more about wearing old favorites. They’re favorites for a reason, right? And I’m so glad to hear that you like my originality. I appreciate the feedback.

Beautiful. Your hair, glasses, boots, pants. Everything works. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I need new glasses, I love your round ones!!

Thank you for the compliments, Wendy. The optician at Costco helped me select these frames which had originally been fitted with tinted lenses so they were in the sunglasses display rack.

Laurie, I’m also height-challenged and even more so with most pants because I won’t wear more than a 2″ heel. But the length on these pants is just right for me.

  5. Rena, since the pandemic, I don’t get out much! This was the first time I’ve seen front ankle slit pants! Those boots are so cute, I can see why you’d not want your pants to cover them up. Thank you for hosting. I brought my babka.

    • Rena

Oh yay, babka! You know how to party. Thanks for stopping by, Jean.

They suit you well Rena, great with your boots – it’s an interesting look. Jacqui x

  7. What a fabulous idea! I have been worried about my boots not showing, too, but I never thought about front slit pants! You look amazing in them, and I love this outfit. It looks a lot like what I wear regularly! I don’t think I follow trends much. I wear the jeans that fit my body and don’t worry about the current silhouette. I have been trying to limit my shopping as I kind of went overboard last year…can I blame that on the pandemic? I’m going to! I think all of the angst from the year that wasn’t (2020) fed into my shopping. I’m looking to scale way back this year. I recently bought a white shirt because I have only one (and it doesn’t currently fit).

    Thanks for the link up!

Marsha, I also like the look of a side slit at the ankle so I’m on the hunt for that style as well. I haven’t given up on ankle lengths or crops but I do like to have a variety of options in my wardrobe.

  8. These are fun pants and they do showcase your boots well! It’s great you were able to find them in stock and didn’t have to go out of your way to get them ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks for the link up!

Hope that you are having a good week! First week of school here for the kids ๐Ÿ™‚

Mica, I knew that I needed to act fast for fear that these pants would sell out.

    • Rena

Nancy, the pants are indeed very comfortable. I only wish that they had pockets.

    • Rena

Aren’t they amazing, Kellyann? I rarely shout about an item from the rooftops like I am with these pants, but I can’t stop myself. I hope that they come out in other colors.

    • Rena

Jill, I had a feeling that these pants were going to be popular. I’m tempted to buy another pair to have in reserve.

  9. These pants are absolutely perfect to show off those fabulous boots! I love this whole look. You crack me up! I recently wore something 3 days in a row because I kept intending to photograph it and then didnโ€™t get to it. But it was too cute to not photograph so I just kept wearing it until I get it done! I havenโ€™t shared yet on the blog though. I will have to tell its 3 day story. Haha.

Shelbee, such is the life of a blogger, right? I rarely wear the same outfit two days in a row so my husband was kind of giving me the side-eye until he realized that I’d been saying that we hadn’t taken the photos that I’d said we needed to the day before.

  10. Gail Is This Mutton

Those peekaboo slits are perfect for shoeaholics (like me!) – they were mentioned in the paper as a big spring trend!

    • Rena

Gail, I like the ones on the side of the ankle as well although I don’t have any of those yet. I’ve considered creating a DIY pair but haven’t gotten around to doing so yet.

  11. I’ve been admiring those pants on another blogger! They look fantastic on you and I love the extra peek of those fun boots!

    • Rena

Thank you, Laura. They’re my new go-to for a fun and easy to wear look.

    • Rena

Thanks, Michelle. I really like the look of white footwear with black pants.

  12. thestylesplash

I love this outfit Rena! The pants are fabulous and show off your amazing white boots to perfection! I love your necklace too. Thanks for linking up!
