It was a bit of recent retail therapy that led to this babydoll top and joggers ensemble. I had deemed an afternoon of shopping necessary to spark my imagination for a subject matter worthy of representing the theme for today’s post.

Would You, Could you? is the theme for the second Saturday of the month. Such is the question one might ask of oneself when happening upon fashion inspirations in magazine articles, store displays, or social media. Or you might find inspiration in an unexpected place like a sunset, or a desert landscape, or a plate of food.ย  Sometimes it might just be the heap of cast-offs in your closet.

In the case of this ensemble, as I’ve already confessed, it was a bit of desperation that had me coming up with this look. A deadline was looming. Fortunately, that bit of shopping had netted me this daisy eyelet babydoll top so I set my mind towards putting together an outfit suitable in light of the question “would you, could you?”.

If you’re not familiar with the term, a babydoll top (or dress) has a silhouette that is modeled on the nightgown style with the same name. Typically, the babydoll style fits snugly at the bust and flares out to the hip. Sleeve type and length can vary as will other details such as tiers and neckline shape.

One consideration I’d had was to pair the top with my muted red crops (previously seen in Personality Types and Summer Sandal Options When Flip-flops And Flatform Slides Arenโ€™t Your Thing) and create another RWB look. But I really wanted to play up the boho vibe of the top so more brainstorming ensued. Then I landed on my camo joggers.

Even though these joggers were featured last October in Would You, Could You? Camo Joggers, the lightweight fabric makes them a suitable option for Summer as well. Since where I live winter weather is quite mild, I can wear them nearly all year round. In these photos, I’ve rolled up the bottom of them to “lighten the look”.

As for my choice of accessories, I layered a couple of my favorite necklaces and loaded up with a few bracelets as well. Those, along with my earrings, were in silvertone metals. The buckles on my sandals and the hardware on my cross-body are burnished brass. Normally, I wouldn’t deliberately be so matchy-matchy with my shoes and purse but each was perfect for the look so no need not to go with it. The top is the only new item in this look; everything else was shopped from my closet.

Some might ponder on the wisdom of the pairing of blue with an olive green camouflage pattern as did I at first. Then I remembered how well camo and denim look together and I considered that since the shade of blue of my top is fairly close to denim, the combo might work out quite well. If you happened to see my guest blogger post on Curly Crafty Mom earlier this week then you know that this isn’t the first time I’ve paired up blue and olive. Fair warning, it probably won’t be the last time either.

  1. I would 100% wear this outfit. I don’t own any camo, but I’m starting to warm up to it. The texture/print mix of the eyelet top and camo pants is terrific.

  2. Camo with this hue of blue looks great. The sweetness of the babydoll is nicely played down with the pants. It’s definitely a daring look, but you wear it with confidence and can pull the look off. Love the outfit!

I love the baby doll top! It looks great with the camo joggers. Olive/khaki goes with just about any colour. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

  4. I would and I could wear this outfit – I love any color with camo and a baby doll top is a great cut for me – as long as it is more fitted at the bust. If not, I look pregnant! Thanks for the link up Rena!

  5. that is such a cute top! I’ll always love any size of peplum top – from a tiny hem to full on empire waist babydoll style! And I like the colour. blue and green should definitely be seen!

Rena, this top was a fabulous find! I love the baby doll style and the extra tiers on it are so fun. I treat camo as a neutral these days so I kind of think any color pairs nicely with it. I do like blue and olive green together. This is a really great outfit and yes, I would wear a baby doll top with joggers (if I could find a baby doll top that flatters me!). Great post, my friend.

  7. Hey, Rena! I love the camo pants – I have a pair very similar to those (same rolled cuffs) that I’ve worn with bright blues in the past, so I’m already on board for this colour combo. I love the fabric of the top, but that style is anathema to me – it’s a super-NOT-flattering style on my body (big boobs, small waist) that either looks like I’m wearing a tent or that I’m 8 months pregnant, so I’m stepping away slowly! ;-P

I think your accessories are aces in this look – I love the warm caramel of the leather (pfft, forget about the metals mixing – it doesn’t matter).

Thank you so much for the link-up – so sorry I missed the last one!

I find it’s perfect together! Joggers and a baby doll just keep the look light and fun. Plus for the blue and camo as you mentioned, this too is great. I find that camo is a neutral, so any color your baby doll would have worked! Have a wonderful Sunday Rena xx

You’re right, denim and camo look great together – and this is a really nicely nuanced outfit, perfect with the tan accessories.
