Wrapping up March with a review of some recent thrift store finds and a few OOTDs that were shared on Instagram but not featured in a blog post.
My visits to thrift stores have started to pick up in the last few weeks so I’ve got a bit to share. I’m fortunate that there are quite a few of them in my area run by several different charities as well as a whole host of Goodwill locations. The skirt I’m wearing in these photos is one of my recent finds. When I bought it I’d intended to sell it on Poshmark (which I may still do). But when I realized that it fit me and that I had the perfect pair of sandals to wear with it, I felt compelled to finish out the look.
The black lace blazer, the same one shown last month in Would You, Could You? Shoes And Socks was also a thrift store find but from a few years ago. For a bit of pattern mixing, I opted for a polka dot blouse (retail purchase) that I’ve had a while. I decided to tie it at the waist instead of tucking it in and then adding a belt. My cork wedge sandals are a new addition to my closet (retail clearance sale). These will be great for wearing with longer pants, like the ones I wore in 21 in ’21: Delightful Reads, because the effective heel height is only about 2″ when you account for the platform.
You’ve likely also experienced days when you don’t find much to buy and then there are other days when you come away with treasures from every store. It was like that about a week ago when I picked up these six items. All of them are destined to be listed in my Poshmark closet.
True to my usual routine, I always check the jackets/blazers and the skirt racks. Only recently have I started to look through dresses as well. The photo of the Bill Blass jacket doesn’t do it justice. The colors are very rich and there is a shimmer of gold throughout the pattern. It is spectacular. There were a few other items but these were the best of the haul.
I did find a few things to keep for myself. On the left in the photos below is the blouse I wore in Recycle-Reclaim-Reuse: Overalls Overhaul. The tropical pattern and bright colors of the jacket on the right caught my eye. It’s lightweight which makes it a perfect option for spring/summer evenings.
As for the following OOTDs, these are a good representation of the past month. In the look from March 2, the grey jeans, the belt, and the necklaces are past thrift store finds. The purse in the March 17 look was a resale buy.
The jeans in both of the looks below were thrifted as are most of the jeans I buy. The raw edge hem on the pair on the left was done by me because, in their original state, these jeans were a smidge too short. Also thrifted are the necklace and the long cardigan in the look on the right.
This past weekend I got a chance to visit a few out of the area thrift stores when The Husband and I spent a couple of days with my sister and brother-in-law. Not only did I find a pair of metallic jeans (likely to be featured in a post next month) I found a couple of Kate Spade dresses and an Anthropologie skirt that I’ll be selling along with the six items shown above. Did you catch my last post about Poshmark, 5 Valuable Tips For Online Resell Buyers? I’m working on a similar post with tips for sellers.
What have you found recently while thrift store shopping? What trends/aesthetics are you currently keen on?

Love your outfit today, Rena – great idea to knot the blouse (excellent pattern-mixing on the dots + floral!). That is a really cool graphic print on the skirt, and I adore your wedge sandals – don’t you just love “Shoe Math”?
Ooh, I love seeing what people find second-hand. The Bill Blass jacket is amazing! It would make a sweet holiday look. The Eloquil dress is right on-trend and will sell fast, I bet, as will that Loft pleated skirt. I used to hate pleats, and now I love them, go figure!
I always do blazers and jacket in thrift stores, along with skirts. I’ll glance at pants (since they are pain to try on), and always spend some time in the dresses. How exciting that you found multiple Kate Spades! And Anthro stuff tends to be really interesting, design-wise. I love metallic pants (I have silver and gold!), and am looking forward to seeing yours!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Rena, this is such a fun post! You know I love a good thrifted find. And what a gorgeous skirt with those big bold flowers! The yellow wedge sandals are perfect. I thought of you the other day when I was out thrifting…I found a denim jacket with engineer stripes and it fit perfectly! It is Ralph Lauren and I paid $17 for it. Which is a bit more than I would normally pay for a preloved item, but I did have to account for the brand. I found it on consignment as well rather than an actual thrift store. But I am super excited to wear it!

As excited as I am with a great thrifted find, I always wonder why the previous owner decided to get rid of it. I’ve been willing to pay a higher for an item I really like and that jacket would likely be one of those items. From the description, it sounds a bit like the one I’ve been wearing/sharing recently. I can hardly wait to see how you’ll be wearing yours.
I bought all of my AG jeans on Poshmark. It has been fun shopping there lately and you have found some great finds! I have recently bought some NWT spring tops on Posh too. Love the fun print on your skirt and wearing it with those yellow sandals, they are adorable!
thanks for linking!

Most of my Poshmark purchases are usually impulse buys of items that randomly catch my attention but there are so many good bargains to be found on the site.
I love the March 24 look with the long striped cardigan! I’ve pinned it for inspiration because a look with a lot of interest (texture, silhouette) but a muted color scheme is always a prize in my book.

Oh my. I’m so flattered that you pinned that look. Thank you for letting me know.
Your skirt is beautiful and I really like the yellow wedges with it! It’s nice you have so much good thrifting luck at places near you! I don’t get to thrift as often a I’d like as a few places here shut down after the first lockdown and never reopened sadly! But I try to find time to travel to the ones further away when I can.
Thanks so much for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you’re having a good weekend 🙂 We’ve taken advantage of the warmer weather to enjoy some time outside.
Away From The Blue
This skirt was a lucky find and one that I almost passed on. I’m so glad that I didn’t.
I adore the print on that skirt…don’t sell it!
