Does the prospect of donning white jeans feel as daunting as a Fear Factor challenge? Before I’d embraced them as a wardrobe must-have, there was a time I thought that wearing white jeans was a bit too daring for me. I’ve since changed my way of thinking.

Of course, my hesitancy was mostly related to the belief that darker colors are more slimming than lighter ones. Over time, I’ve come to realize that with the right cut, fit, and details, any color can be flattering. Darker hued jeans have no advantage over lighter ones. Sylvia, at 40+ Style, recently shared this comprehensive guide for buying and styling white jeans. I wholeheartedly agree with Tip 1.

It can be a delicate balance to find white denim that is heavy enough so that your underwear doesn’t show through and yet light enough for warmer weather. I’ve also found that a slightly thicker fabric will also smooth over lumps and bumps (and VPL) that a thinner fabric won’t.

The quality of the fabric, fit, and cut of jeans can make economically priced jeans look more expensive and vice versa. Less common design details like the exposed button fly add interest and kick up a basic white jean.  Along with a bell-sleeved top and a bit of ruffle, I’ve got a concert ready outfit.

These photos were taken a couple of months ago when The Husband and I ventured in Ojai for a scenic drive and in search of new photo spots. We happened upon Libbey Park which is home to Libbey Bowl, a wonderfully designed performance venue. Due to the statewide shutdown, there was no concert the day we stopped by (nor at all this summer). But a gal can dream and planned for time when it will be safe again to enjoy these types of activities.

One more detail regarding these button fly white jeans. I got them at Costco shortly after our local one was able to resume selling clothing. For the price, I also bought them in a medium wash denim and they sold out fast. I’ve been wearing both nearly non-stop all summer. Too bad I’ve been so lax at writing blog posts or they would have been feature already. How are you wearing white jeans?

  1. I keep away from white jeans b/c I know if there was a speck of dirt anywhere near me, that it would immediately find my jeans! I’d sit in something ~ brush up against something ~ or whatever…. but those jeans wouldn’t stay clean for longer than 5 minutes on me! …. They look fantastic on everyone else though!
