Gazing out upon the shoreline, the phrase “around the bend” comes to mind. And if I tell you that I feel as though I’m “around the bend”, do you suppose that I’m mean;

A – that I’ve gone crazy
B – that I’m quite intoxicated
C – that I’m nearing a destination

The answer could very well be “A” (haha), my family and close friends know that the answer is not “B”, which leaves us with “C” as my intent when I say that I’m around the bend. Actually, it’s my retirement that is now around the bend, less than three months away. The last big life-sucking, time-consuming deliverable is done and activities at the office should sail along smoothly during the time I have left there.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

It’s been a while since the last LWTW post due to a combination of short work weeks and no time for putting together blog posts. I do have OOTD pictures from the last couple of months, some of which have made it onto Instagram. Maybe I’ll do a Fall highlights to share them all. Meanwhile, last week was a full five days (and a few nights) and here are the pics to prove it.

Monday

The cardigan, the top, and the skirt were all bought at my local Ann Taylor Factory Store. The multi-strand faux-pearl necklace was purchased at a J. Crew Factory Store. One of the great perks of where I live now is that I have about a 20-minute drive to an outlet mall so it’s become a regular shopping destination.  At the end of the post, I share why I chose an outfit with a bit more polish and why this was the only day that I didn’t work late.

Tuesday

Dressing for comfort was a primary consideration for the rest of the week. This outfit evolved around the top as it was the first item I decided upon when I started searching my closet.  Cozy sweater, deep-hued pants, and booties … done.

Wednesday

Strong basic ensemble … black ankle pants, moto-style jacket, button-down shirt, funky (but oh so comfy) loafers. I was quite pleased with myself. Then I read this WhoWhatWear article and was doubly so.

Thursday

My superhuman powers are waning.  I’ve worn this outfit before, only the shoes are different.  They’re lace-ups with a chunky sole which are fabulous but not quite the right accent for the rest of the look. I’ll try again.

Friday

Strong to the finish, take no prisoners. Due day on the life-sucking project so I punched up my basic jeans and black tee look with a bold long cardigan, chunky pendant, and embroidered booties. Project done and I was out of the office before sundown.

And there you have it, a glance back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

So, last Monday.  A night out with the girls was my excuse for the extra effort.  You may have caught a mention on Facebook or Instagram about the mini post-FierceCon meet-up that Hara arranged since she was going to be in the LA area for a few days.  There were five of us that met for dinner in Manhattan Beach and we had a wonderful time chatting and getting to know one another.  Anne, the woman standing next to me, had also attended FierceCon but Lynda and Chantalle had not so this evening was the first time we’d met.  Hara, Lynda, and Chantalle were all attending a coaching and personal growth seminar the following two days which sounded quite intriguing.

L to R: Linda, Chantelle, Hara, Anne, me.

Have you been to the Johnny Was outlet store? It makes me happy. Maybe I’ll see you at the Farmers Market one of these Sundays!
