Fall is a season full of sweet surprises. Whether it’s a pumpkin spice something-or-other, Quarter Back Crunch ice cream (it’s my PSL of autumn), or weighing of oneself after a bit of indulgence in Halloween candy. While I’m fairly good at not buying those tasty treats myself, I’ve got little resistance to their pull when they’ve been brought into my home or the office.

Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.

I’m starting this week’s round-up is a quick look at what I wore to work the week before last since I never got that post published. It was a four-day week because, on Monday, our son had surgery to repair a tear in the labrum in his right shoulder.  He had injured it a couple of years ago while climbing.  The surgery went well, he’s following the doctor’s orders, and managing quite well with the temporary limited use of that arm.

Monday

I usually rotate around my closet in early Fall, bringing the items more suited to cooler temps into more prominent positions.   This wine and black floral print skirt is one of those items more so for the colors than the weight of the fabric.  Bare legs and a lightweight cardigan because the temps are still on the warmer side.

Tuesday

I adore the concept of this ensemble … jacket/blazer, graphic t-shirt, cropped pants … but I don’t like the execution in this look.   I think that part of the problem is the jacket.  Even though I like the styling of it, I’m realizing that it doesn’t flatter my figure.  I’ve worn it many times and since it was a thrift store find from a couple of years ago, my cost per wearing is quite low.  It’s time to donate.  The pants, too.  Also a “some time ago” thrift store find, I wear them nearly once a week and it’s time to replace them as well.

Wednesday

Ol’ Eagle Eyes (aka The Husband) notice the pattern mixing in this outfit right off. It was hard to tell if it was a positive or negative reaction I’d gotten from him but I like the mix.  The jacket is decidedly a spring/summer piece but seems to hold its own in this fall-transition look.

Thursday

Another Autumn/Winter skirt re-discovered in my closet that I paired with my black corduroy blazer (both skirt and blazer are thrift store finds).  The fabric of the skirt is bias-cut and I like how its slight tulip shaping skims along my curves.

Friday

I didn’t go into work so no OOTD photos.

And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week.  How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me.

Two more sweet surprises to share. Both non-caloric. In our neck of the woods, there’s a weekly farmers’ market on Sunday mornings that The Husband and I will often frequent. And so it was this past Sunday, while we were looking at a vendor’s display, a woman caught my attention and asked if I had a blog called “fine or whatever or something like that”. It turns out that she follows my blog. It was my hair that caught her attention and piqued her interest enough to ask. This was the first time I’d been recognized and what a thrill. Thank you Kathy for making my day.

Another sweet surprise I got recently was this photo of my kids. Their work locations are near each other and The Husband was lucky enough to be able to meet them for lunch one day. So in honor of National Daughters Day and National Sons Day, these are ones that top my lists.

Hi Rina, It was delightful to meet you at the Farmer’s Market. I’ve enjoyed reading of some of the journeys you’ve persevered through, and felt I could relate. See you on the beach!
