How often do you wish that you could start over? Or perhaps give yourself a mulligan and take another shot at it? Maybe all that’s need is a reset.
Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.
My work wardrobe has felt a bit lacking lately and likely one of the reasons I’ve been less than enthused about doing these LWTW posts. However, I had an opportunity over the weekend to do a bit of shopping and one of the outings was with my son no less. We journeyed over to the outlet mall that’s only about 20 minutes from us. The kid is in job hunting mode and as a recent college graduate, his wardrobe is in need of some interview and office-appropriate items. Since many stores carry both men’s and women’s clothing, our usual approach is that he looks for himself and I get to spend some time browsing for myself.
I scored two jackets and a long cardigan, all in black. The kid found a few shirts (it’s a start). Another shopping excursion had been made with The Husband and it included stops at a few of our favorite thrift stores. I found an office-appropriate jacket during that outing as well along with some other finds.
Monday
This is one of the new jackets, described online as a soft bomber. It’s very lightweight so it’s great for warmish weather seasons.
Jacket – Banana Republic Factory
Top – Ann Taylor Factory
Skirt – Ann Taylor (thrifted)
Shoes – Blowfish (thrifted)
Tuesday
I’ve been known to buy clothes and wait weeks (sometimes months) before wearing them. Like I’m saving them for some unknown special occasion. But that did not happen this time. Here is the long cardigan which I paired with a recently thrifted skirt and a pair of two-toned Maryjanes that I haven’t worn in quite a while. These shoes are over 15 years old and wore them to test out their comfort level. They got a satisfactory grade so I might keep them a while longer.
Cardigan – Ann Taylor Factory
Top – Banana Republic Factory
Skirt – no label (thrifted)
Shoes – Loft
Wednesday
This lovely blazer was waiting for me at one of my favorite thrift stores. And when I say waiting, I really mean waiting because I’d first come across it during a stop at that same store two weeks earlier. I walked into the store with my fingers crossed hoping that it would still be there and it was. I’d passed on it at first because it’s a bit similar in style to another jacket I have but kind of regretted that afterward. I’m a sucker for a jacket with 3/4 sleeves and pockets. My shoes are a recent purchase and they’re so comfortable I’ll be buying them in at least one other color.
Jacket – (thrifted)
Top – Gap Factory
Pants – (thrifted)
Shoes – Crown Vintage
Thursday
Another mix of new (jacket and top) and thrifted (jeans and shoes), I’d envisioned this look earlier in the week and was excitedly looking forward to wearing it. The jacket is actually a stiff knit open-front cardigan and has the boxy style that I like. I adore the floral/plaid pattern mix in this top and the jeans were an impulse buy on Poshmark that I came across when I was sharing items from my own closet. Following our recent move, I hadn’t been able to locate these shoes and I’d feared that they might have donated by mistake. Turns out I just needed to unpack one last box and was so happy to find them safely tucked inside of it. The Husband thought I was nuts with the way I carried on in my glee.
Jacket – Ann Taylor Factory (not available online)
Top – Simply Vera Vera Wang
Jeans – Simply Vera Vera Wang (Poshmark)
Shoes – Born (thrifted)
Friday
I had the day off so no photos to share.
And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week. How do you decide what you will wear to work? Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be checked out from any type of routine, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, in whatever manner you enjoyed your day is good enough for me.
With having had the day off on Friday and then the holiday on Monday, that long weekend gave me time for a much-needed reset and opportunity for relaxing. And even though I have no OOTD photos from Friday or the weekend, I do have this one to share. My first pie baked in our new place- Fresh Peach With Pecan Crumble. It was yummy and a hit at the pot-luck we attended on Saturday.
Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

I love your blog because, like you, I love a good jacket! Great to see you back!
Thank you
Look at that pie!! Wowza!!
And I love that thrifted jacket that was waiting for you. I’m just the opposite when I buy things. I try to wear them right away because I’m so excited I have something new….just call me a kid in the candy store. LOL

Jodie
Jodie, I don’t know why I would wait to wear clothes but I’m trying hard to break that habit … sometimes to an extreme where I wear it a ton.
Those 2 time Mary James are really cool! Glad they will stay longer in your closet!

As always, great style, my friend. But why did you have to end with a pecan pie?! I am already hungry and pecans are my favorite and I can’t even have them in my house due to the little guy’s allergies. I guess I need to come to LA for a bit of that!
