Last Week This Week is a look back at what I actually wore last Monday thru Friday as long as it was a workday. I’ve included a brief description of each outfit and if I wore it for a specific event other than a typical workday. Without a specified dress-code in my workplace, casual Friday isn’t really an official thing but I usually adhere to it nonetheless.
Let me clarify … unless you’ve declared yourself to be retired, anything you do during daylight hours (and sometimes nighttime ones as well) whether or not you get paid for it, I consider that to be your “work” and you should/can be dressed accordingly. And even if you are retired, in whatever manner you’ve enjoyed your day is good enough for me. I’m inspired by the creativity I see shared on the many blogs and Instagram accounts that I follow.
Monday
It was back to full five-day workweek for me after my “vacation” during the previous week (see last week’s post if you are wondering why vacation is in quotes). Once again, I’m working a sartorial theme here but I’m going to hold off on telling you what it is until the end. Perhaps you’ll be able to guess what it is on your own.
In the post that came out a couple of days ago, I shared about my recent discovery of the figure-flattering appeal of shift dresses. Here you see me wearing another newly acquired one that I’ve made office appropriate with my favorite black jacket and black boots. My December installment of Up Down All-Around (week #2 link-up theme) will feature this dress styled for two more looks, one for play and one for fun.

There’s a bit of pattern mixing in this look with a combination of stripes and leopard paired up with cropped trousers and loafer pumps.

Wednesday
Lately, I’ve been delving back into my fondness for longer length skirts and I seem to be able to find an endless supply of them at thrift stores. The focus of my upcoming Reclaim-Recycle-Reuse post (the theme for the next link-up) will be skirts and a discussion about the difference between current and outdated. And how about my shoes? They’re a thrift store find, too.

Friday
I’ve got a casual-but-still-professional look by pairing a blouse and vest with gray jeans and low-heeled boots.
I’d hoped that an appropriate theme for this week would have been something like Finally Fall and I would’ve been sporting boots and cozy sweaters. Instead, the temps were still mostly in the upper 70’s and even low 80’s. Temps this week are expected to break records and get into the 90’s, ack! Monday morning, as I was putting together an outfit for my leopard dress, I’d also decided that I would wear my leopard print Chelsea boots on Friday and an alternate theme for the week had been found. It may be hard to see, but the pendant that I wore on Friday is also a leopard print.
Coincidently, leopard was also in the “spot”light for Jennie (at A Pocketful Of Polka Dots) and Fonda’s (at Savvy Southern Chic) recent 9 to 5 Style posts in which they showcase a theme featuring their individual takes for a professional look.
And there you have it, a look back at what I wore to work last week. I expect that in future posts there will be repeat wearings of some of these outfits or a mix and match of the pieces as has already occurred. Turns out you really are a woman with a penchant for the “cat’s pajamas” ! ( Sorry, that was just dumb :-)) You have some great looks here and you’ve once again brought to my attention that I need to add a bit more of this wild side print to my own closet.
I’ll bet getting on the leopard vibe helped to lighten the mood after your “vacation” and made it a bit easier to return to work, not so well rested and with a procedure on your horizon. I’m so sorry that it turned out that way Rena.
I think I favor the maxi-skirt look this week and those shoes you thrifted to wear with it are really cool.

Well, the leopard vibe did help me feel a bit fiercer than I might have otherwise. And as for “cat’s pajamas”, you’ve reminded me that I’m lacking in leopard nightwear. Thank you for the “warm wishes” and I hope that you have a wonderful holiday as well.

I love all the leopard! And the gray and black leopard prints are so chic, in my opinion. Although I have an affinity for all things leopard! I just scored the most amazing pair of leopard print booties by Lucky Brand for a mere $35 on clearance. I am so excited to share them soon.

I really really love your sense of styling. Ok, so I am retired,,,can I dress like this to go to the market? Running errands? It’s been a battle to know exactly what to do,,,I love to dress up and would not go out in public in my “relaxing clothes” as I call them…any thoughts? Advice?
