Such is the nature with trends that I’m usually combining elements from two or more into the same outfit. In this ensemble, I count three plus the floral tee that is the item linked to this week’s theme. Personally, I think that trend mash-ups make for a more interesting look (and it may have been appropriate for you to have added air quotes as you read interesting). Fine, whatever.
Moto Jacket – Loft Factory Store, bought last Fall (very similar, another option)
Floral Tee – Loft, no longer available (pretty option, this one’s cute, too)
Cropped Pants – thrifted, no label (similar look, another option)
Lace-up Flats – Nordstroms Rack (similar look, another option)
From top to bottom; trend #1 – moto jacket, trend #2 – wide-leg cropped pants, trend #3 – lace-up flats. Each of these fashion items were carefully chosen by me, for me, because as “in things”, they help to keep my wardrobe fresh and contemporary but I was keen to make sure that individually, they were suitable to me. The fabric of the jacket is a knit that drapes nicely and is easy to wear. The width of the pants legs is not too wide as to overpower me and my flats have about a 3/4″ heel which I find much more comfortable than true flats.
These lace-ups have become one of my go-to footwear choices when I know I’ll be on my feet a lot and I don’t want to resort to wearing sneakers. I didn’t get a picture but there is a zipper on the back of the heel that makes putting them on and taking them off a breeze. ย Finding lower heeled shoes that aren’t as flat as ballet shoes is not an easy task and I found a winner in these.
I haven’t said much about the floral tee yet but I don’t really know what to say other than I saw it and immediately knew I had to buy it. The floral an all-over pattern and the fabric has a lovely, soft vintage feel. This print seems to have sold out very quickly and I’m glad that I didn’t hesitate in buying it.
Let’s Wrap This Up
Now, onto the Fine-Whatever link up for this week. Two posts seemed to have captured the attention of quite a number of readers (high click counts) and I couldn’t decide between them so BONUS, I’m featuring both. First up is Laurie from Vanity and Me who looks stunning in a navy and white floral tapework and lace dress. The detailing wraps around to back so she looks just fabulous coming or going and the placement of the design is so flattering.
Jennie from A Pocket Full Of Polka Dots shares her how-to tips and secrets for taking her own blog post photos. Even if you’re a blogger who doesn’t take your own photos, you’ll still learn a thing or two that might improve your shots and if you’re not a blogger, this post is still a fascinating read.
How many trends can you mash-up into an outfit? At what point do you know if the mash-up is a hit or a miss? What are your tricks for working a trend into your wardrobe?
Letโs connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin, stumble โฆ all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you. And don’t forget to add a post or two to the link up.

Fabulous look, I especially love the floral top!
My eyes immediately went to the very unique print of the t-shirt. The colors are so soft and subtle and I like the wide spacing of the flowers. Also, the shoes are great! I’ve not seen a pair of lace ups that had the hidden heel!! Foot issues for me have pretty much ruled out most flats but these look quite wearable and are very flattering.
This is a lovely outfit Rena and you have “totally rocked the trends” in a way that’s ready for work or leisure. Also, this looks like an outfit that can easily be worn year round in that California sunshine!
Hoping that you are healing as you reflect on memories of your mom and also continuing your positive and hopeful attitude for the future.
Thank you Rena! What a lovely surprise! Hope your’e having a great weekend xx
