What’s black and white with a pop of pink? A pretty pattern on a cardigan, of course. Here’s another riddle … how many trends can a blogger show in the same photo before a call is made to the fashion police? I hope that the answer is the same one I gave The Husband when “he asked how many red shoes does a woman need?” which was “I don’t understand the question”. You can more about that conversation in this post.

Forging ahead, this black and white outfit with a pop of pink floral includes the mixing of patterns, the pairing of floral and lace, and my black DIY fringe hem jeans. Earlier this week, I shared my results with a DIY project I had been inspired to try. In case you missed it, the post is called aptly enough DIY Project: Fringe Hem. This quick and easy project takes only minutes to do and is a fabulous way to shorten a pair of too-long jeans and add a bit of edginess to them as well.

I bought this cardigan a couple of months ago at Target so it’s availability is limited and only in stores (check here to see if your size is still available in your local store). If you missed on this one, then make sure to check out the patterns that have recently debutted (see links below).

The lace top is also from Target and was previously featured in Up Down All-Around Lace Top. The Husband found the front zipper humorously appealing and he kept reaching out to pull it down. Anyone else have a similar problem?

Remember these black and white wedges from Up Down All-Around White Skirt? They pair up wonderfully with the cardigan and the croped length of my fringed jeans allow them to be fully on display.

And when a puppy wanders by, what else is a gal to do but give it a scratch behind the ears?

Let’s Wrap This Up

Now, onto the Fine-Whatever link up for this week. The featured contributor from last week’s In Real Life themed link up is Mallory at Skirts, Snails And Supermom Tails. Mallory is relatively new to blogging and shares about her life as a former high school teacher turned stay-at-home mom and in her link up post, she shares about a trip along the Oregon coast she and her family recently took.

Is there a real answer to the question “how many trends can a blogger show in the same photo before a call is made to the fashion police? How many do you throw together? And which trends are you still waiting to try?

Let’s connect! Subscribe, tweet, follow, friend, love, pin, stumble … all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you.

Rena, I am so loving this outfit! That cardigan is fabulous! I have so many great cardis from Target that I simply cannot add another new one at this point! And the lace shirt is perfectly paired with it. (My husband would be the same way with a zipper like that! I suppose we should be thankful about there enthusiasm for us!) And of course, I love your fringe hemmed jeans and those shoes are amazing! It is all so good! You look amazing!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Shelbee, my husband keeps telling me that I should be thankful too and I know what you mean about having so many cardis that you can’t add another one to the collection. I periodically thin the ranks to make room for new ones. Thanks for the comments and compliments.

I feel your pain about pants being too long. With heels, I can usually get away without needing to shorten my pants but crops typically don’t hit me in the right spot and just look like my pants are too short.

Thank you, Andrea. I had hoped the trends would work well together and I’m glad you think that they do.

Aww. love the puppy photobomb! Rena, I really love everything in this outfit. The cardigan is a lovely print, I am a fan of pink. I read your DYI, I am just not a crafy person! They came out great though. I just keep staring at those gorgeous shoes as well. Love those !

I think this outfit rocks Rena—definitely not too many trends, or if it is you combined them perfectly! Besides isn’t everything a trend at one time or another?
I’m going to try that fringe trick on this pair of jeans I need to shorten—I’ll give you a shout out when I feature them!!

Yay!!! I’m so glad you’re going to try the fringe hem on your jeans. I remember you doing a similar DIY with your mother’s suede skirt that looked great. And thanks for the thumbs up on the mash-up of trends.

Jacqui, I hope that you do try the fringing. It seems to be an in look now and easy to achieve without spending big bucks. I much prefer it over the destroyed look with rips and tears.

  7. I have a similar lace top with a zip and my husband always raises his eyebrows in a sexy way whenever I wear it – lol!

Thanks for hosting and see you next week!
