It seems that many of us ‘women of a certain age’ hesitate with a pattern or bold color for our bottom half for fear it will draw too much attention there. I think the trick is to balance the boldness of pattern or color with other elements throughout the ensemble so as to keep the eyes moving from head to toe and back up again. Tania of 50 Is Not Old does it with a bold necklace and Beata of Fashion Adventure At Any Age achieves this with her red shoes. In my look, it’s the lacy detail in my top and my funky flatforms that balance out the pattern in my floral pants.
Pants – GAP, old (cute option, these too); Top – Loft, old (similar, another option)
You’ve seen me sporting crops and rolled hems before (here and here) and I think that this is a style that can be flattering to most women. And, it’s a comfortable alternative to shorts for warm weather days.
Short necklace – AEO, old (option with turquoise, pretty); Long necklace – J Jill, old (option, another choice)
Chain link bracelet – Lucky Brand, old (option, this one, too); Fabric wrap bracelet – old
Flatforms – Mootsies Tootsies, old (option, also cute)

I saw to late that you wanted something floral, so I added my floral maxi dress! Thank you for hosting. Hope to see you tomorrow on Fancy Friday!
It’s not a problem. Glad to have you joining in on the link up. ?
I used to think that pattern on the bottom half was “bad”—but really, I think it’s just the opposite. To me the pattern detracts from any lumps & bumps—I feel like I can see those issues more on solid colored pants!!
Besides….your pants are quite muted, so it’s not like they stand out a ton!! They’d be perfect for anyone!

thank so much for hosting!!
You’ve said it perfectly … ‘Pattern detracts from lumps and bumps’.
Great pants!
I have one pair of floral pants, and I love them (I bought them years ago but didn’t really start wearing them much until last year). I’m actually looking for another pair as the ones I own are getting a bit worn…

I’m looking for more as well. A darker pallet and something with bolder colors.
Love the floral pants. I have plenty of floral dresses , yes but one floral pair of floral pants, they are fun. Pretty black , grey and white combination! They are fun to dress up or down.
Have a great week!

I have several floral skirts that I love wearing but yet hesitated with pants … go figure. I’m glad you like the color palette and you’re right, I can dress them up or down.
Thank you, Jess.
I love patterned bottoms! I actually don’t like patterns on my top all that much so I usually for the bottoms! These are great pants! And you could always add a bright color on top, too., or stick with the neutrals! Perfect summer outfit!

I like your idea of wearing the pants with a bright color. Thanks.
I am SO instantly attracted to the tassels on your bag, Rena, so flirty!! And fun
and yes, I am but a recent convert to patterns but I do have to say I do love a nice printed pant. Although thus far, my ventures have all been leggings. I adore how the eye is (pleasantly) distracted from what we’d rather not flaunt
xoxo
I’m glad you like my bag and the tassels. I’ve found that fit and silhouette are much more important in achieving a flattering look and use of color or pattern is nothing to be feared.
This look is so cute and comfy looking! Love those pants!
Thank you
I love this look! You styled your pants perfectly!
Thank you. I’m glad you like the look.
