In this post from last week, I announced the start of a new series I’m calling Up, Down, All-Around. The goal of this series is to showcase a new or old item from my wardrobe and how I would and do style it up for the office, down for casual, and all-around for a special event like date night or a party. And since I will be publishing this series weekly, I’ve decided to add a link-up to it as well. My Powers the Flower link up will now be a monthly series that posts on the first Thursday of the month.
I tend to not wear something I’ve bought right away. Sometimes I do this because I know the purchase was just an impulse buy for something I don’t really need and in a few days I will decide to return it. Other times I do this because I’ve bought the item for future me. You know, the one that is thinner or will be going somewhere for which the item would be perfect except I don’t loose weight or I don’t go that special someplace. Shopping for the future me is a problem I’m trying to overcome. I’m glad to report that the featured item in this post is a recent purchase and fits the today me.
The featured item is a lovely loose fitting sleeveless top with a crocheted yoke that also comes in white and black (see link below photo). The color I chose is called “Thyme To Go”, which as you can see, is a soft, muted grayish green. The crocheted yoke caught my eye in the store and I love how it looks on its own or peeking out from under a jacket or cardigan.
Top – Old Navy exact, similar; Moto jacket – Loft Outlet (similar, pretty); Skirt – AGB (similar, similar) Shoes – Franco Sarto (similar, option); Purse – Nine West (similar, similar); Bracelets – old (option, option)
For work, I’ve worn the top tucked into a black pencil skirt with a light gray knit moto jacket. My accessories include light gray pumps, a large black tote, and silver toned jewelry with stones that pick up on colors of the outfit.
The crocheted yoke is such a nice detail and adds interest to an otherwise plain top. For casual wear, I’ve paired the top with a pair of cargo style capris and flatform sandals.
Cargo capris – Union Bay (almost exact, similar); Flatforms – Mootsies Tootsies (similar, option)
Because the top is loose fitting, I’ve chosen capris that have a slim fit. I bought the flatforms last summer because I thought they were so unique with a kind of artsy vibe.
Add gray slim-fit chinos, a light cardigan, and wedge sandals to the top and I’m ready for an afternoon of fun in the park or running errands.
Pants – Kohl’s (similar, option); Wedge sandals – Nine West (option, option); Cardigan – Gap (similar, similar)
Here again, I’ve balanced out the looser fit of the top with slim-fitting pants which I’ve rolled at the cuff (I love this look). The outfit would be fine without the cardi but I like how the lighter color adds a little brightness to the overall look.
I really do like this top, so much so that I wore three times in the first week after I bought it. I like its versatility and I feel stylish wearing it. It is a definite keeper (and I might consider buying it in black).
Letโs connect! Subscribe, write, follow, friend, love, pin, stumble โฆ all options are available and waiting for you. I look forward to hearing from you. And don’t forget to add a post or two to the link-up.

I have a soft spot for embellishments and the crochet yoke is a subtle nod to it. I look forward to your linkup every week.

Great new series! I really enjoy seeing one item being styled different ways!
Great top! You styled it perfectly all three ways! I totally support you in getting it in black, too! ๐ When you wear an item a lot and with different outfits, I think it’s a sign that it works for you and your current wardrobe, so getting it in another color just makes sense…
Have a wonderful weekend!
