Our son is on rowing crew at his university so recently, The Husband and I found ourselves at a nearby marina to watch him (and the rest of his team) compete against a local school. Knowing we would be in this environment, plans were made for an ‘on location’ photo shoot and I styled an outfit based on a nautical theme of blue and white.
This sweater is one of my favorites because of the bold colors as well as the large floral print pattern. I had originally planned to make the outfit a mix of three patterns but I changed my mind at the last minute before leaving the house and switched from a striped top to the white one you see in the pictures.
I like the outfit with this white top but I should have brought the striped one with us that day as well and taken pictures with both. Fine, whatever … live and learn. I’ve had the sweater for a couple of years, the white top is a recent purchase, and both are from Macy’s.
Adding into the mix of patterns is the laser cut motiff on my tote style purse (Simply Vera) and the diamond pattern on my pants (Old Navy). Similar to my white Keds, the blue Grasshopper casual sneakers I’m wearing are super comfy.

Nautical is such an easy style to achieve and, like with many other styles, it plays well with floral. The combination of blue and white is a timeless classic and you don’t have to go overboard on the details to have fun with it.

I like the nautical look with the flowers! And what a fun location for your photo shoot! I was on the crew team in high school. So long ago…
We are newbies to crew as this is the first year our son is rowing. It’s quite exciting. I’m glad you like the outfit and thank you for commenting.

I’m glad you like it. IMHO, florals are made for mixing with other patterns … the more, the merrier.

I’ve been loving the white sneakers look but I wanted another option so I got these blue ones. Can’t go wrong with the combo of style and comfort.
Your cardigan is absolutely perfect for springtime!
