My “style it up, down, all-around” bomber jacket is from the WhoWhatWear collection at Target. I bought it about a month ago in anticipation of cooler weather in SoCal (I may need to wait a little longer for that, though). It was one of those items that just screams out to you from the racks and you just know that you have to buy it. I mean, what’s not to love about it? Fall-like colors, floral pattern, and it has pockets!
Dressed Up For Work
Since over 40% of my weekly awake time is spent in office attire, the first look I’m sharing is the one where I’ve dressed up the bomber jacket for work. It’s a variation on a blazer and skirt look.
Jacket – Target (exact, also comes in black and olive green); Top – Old Navy (similar); Skirt – thrifted (pencil skirt option); Shoes – Franco Sarto (similar); Purse – INC (similar look)
The top is one I’ve had for several months and it’s tucked in the back at my waist so that it would be at a better length for the look. These types of nip-and-tuck tricks are a great way to transform an item without permanently changing them and the trick is hidden by the jacket. The skirt is one of the three I bought in a recent shopping spree that I shared about earlier this week in Thrifting Overload.
The T-strap pumps are one of my favorite pairs of shoes and they seem to make an appearance in nearly every other post. I’ve had this purse for years and although it’s a bit too small to be practical for me to use on daily basis, I do like the retro vibe it adds to this look.
Dressed Down For Play
As a grown-up, playtime can be anything from shopping to running errands to literally climbing a wall. Not that this is suitable attire for a true athletic endeavor, but this bomber jacket does add a bit of polish to my rolled-up cuff pants, my graphic tee, and white sneakers.

Did you notice the black laces? What do you think of this look? True confession, it’s not an original idea of mine. I saw it in the StyleWatch magazine that I glanced through a couple of weeks ago while I was getting a pedicure. The article featured this look as one of 30 fun fashion inspirations to try during September. This idea and one other were the only ones that piqued my interest. I will share that other inspiration idea in another post.
I’ve been loving my white sneaks for quite a while now and the switch out of the white laces for black struck me as a great way to connect the shoes to the outfit (even if I had to borrow them from my real trainers for the photos because I forgot to buy new laces in time for the photoshoot).
Dressed For Fun
Whether it be a date night, a party, or a get-together with friends, there are times when we want to be a bit more than just casual and this bomber jacket can swing that way as well. This high-waisted tulle skirt with satin ribbon stripes is another thrifted find but one I acquired about a year ago. I initially bought it to use in a Steampunk Halloween costume and I also wore it in February to a Wedding In Winter.
Skirt – thrifted (similar look); Blouse – Loft (sleeveless option); Shoes – Crown Vintage (similar look)
I decided to button up the blouse so that it would look neater under the jacket and with the collar standing up, it gives the outfit a kind of Gibson girl look. Adding onto that vibe are the lace-up pumps and a cameo worn at the top of the button placket.
